IAN WATTS – Mini 1380cc – 1978

My mini was recently restored by a professional restorer over a 2 year period 2021-2023. The car was originally an orange 998cc but in the early 90’s I stripped it myself and had a KAT body kit fitted, it was resprayed a Vauxhall metallic purple colour and a 1380 Stage 4 Minisport engine was fitted. I got so far with the project but moved out of my parents home where the car was kept and the project stalled for 30 odd years. I decided to get the car professionally restored to my design painting it BMW metallic grey and burnt orange. The car has a totally rebuilt fast road 1380cc engine with a straight cut gearbox and twin HS4 SU carbs, adjustable suspension, uprated brakes, new interior, twin fuel tanks, 10″ alloy wheels, KAD short shift and antiroll bar and KAD set up.

ANDY VARNAM – Mini Pickup – 1982

I found this pickup on eBay after a few drinks and saw the registration number: AND318Y.  And pressed ‘BUY IT NOW’, fetched it from near Sunderland, got it home started it up then pushed it into corner of garage.  That was back in 2010, it stood there covered over until December 2017 when I decided I had time and funds to start a restoration, so stripped it down and sent it to be sandblasted at beginning of January 2018. It came home in a very sorry state at the end of January and the work started. I made a jig and started with a complete new inner floor and load floor as can be seen in photos. I put a lot of hours in and was soon ready for prep. Primer and painting.  This was helped along by a friend Pete. It was painted by the beginning of May and then built up and on the road by the end of May 2018. I now take it to many of our club shows filled with club equipment.
